The League of the Dinger

Sixty: that's how many games have been played so far in the SBLM. In those 60 games, teams have crushed 159 home runs. On average, a fan visiting one of the league's fine stadiums on game day will see 2.65 balls travel over the outfield wall. We've all heard the expression, "Chicks dig the long ball." The TV ratings are evidence enough; in the areas around the 4 SBLM cities, SBLM baseball is drawing fans away from MLB games. Why? The MLB is in an age of juiced balls, and crazy home run totals, but only 1.86 homeruns occur per game on average. Yes, it's early, and the numbers are bound to normalize, but thus far, the SBLM is bringing a more exciting brand of baseball.

Consider this. Carlos Delgado, the SBLM league leader in home runs, is on pace for 48 bombs in 120 games. 48! In 2019, the MLB league leader Pete Alonzo managed 53 in 162 regular season games. In 2017, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton both eclipsed the 50 HR mark. We have to go back to 2013 to find the 4th most recent occurrence of a 50 HR season in 162 games. Carlos Delgado could theoretically hit that mark in 42 less games. SBLM offers incredible offensive performances... without the game times that seem to drag on forever. While attendance numbers are plunging in the MLB, could the up and coming SBL/SBLM revive interest in the sport?

PED Investigation Rocks Miami and SBLM

"We're clean, I can guarantee you not a single one of us has been juicing" That's what Flamingos catcher Spaceship Watermelon had to say in regards to the recent cheating allegations being hurled against his? her? Its squad. However, when you look at the numbers, you may start to wonder.

Spaceship Watermelon and backup catcher Jellyfish Aquamarine combine for a .329 batting average and 8 homeruns. The 3B duo of Cherry Bloomington and Pearl Coralescence combine for a .367 average and 5 bombs. The teams 2 main first baseman Rose Crocodile and Pelican Splashwater bat .384 and have hit 5 bombs. These numbers are incredible. The Flamingo's offense has come out of nowhere to carry the team to an 11-9 record. If pitching weren't such an issue, this team, which was barely expected to reach double digit wins, could be sitting atop the division.

We caught up with Flamingo's general manager Fangs McWolf to discuss these cheating allegations. "It's called platooning," he snarled "If the other bum GMs would understand the concept, maybe our success wouldn't be so surprising." McWolf went on to discuss righty-lefty splits and other nonsense. We were left wondering, what is this platooning? Is it legal? And, does one have to stick himself with a needle to use it?

Cáramel Delight Proving She was Worth the 1st Pick.

Many have questioned the decision by Pioneers' GM Kyle Spartan to draft catcher Cáramel Delight with the 1st overall selection. With only 2 teams in the market for a catcher, the argument is made that the team could have waited to pick her, and opted instead to draft Cid Ramirez. Cáramel Delight herself questioned the pick insisting that "Someone was high on that pick" .

Thus far, Cáramel is making Spartan look good. The catcher is slashing .339/.429/.559 and helping her Pioneer pitchers lead the league in team ERA. It's hard to question grabbing a .988 OPS bat and excellent defender regardless of when they were selected. It would be prudent to wait until seasons end to make any final judgements. I personally expect Delight to completely shut down the doubters, and prove she was the obvious and perhaps only choice for the league's first ever selection.

lmao

Aquamarine is the backup only because of the pitcher split in the league.

I dig it.
