Themed Task June 7th 2020- June 13th 2020

Hey There My SBL Peeps!!!

I am going to start this week out with a little announcement, Themed tasks will now be running from Sunday to Saturday to better fit the league schedule. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding, this does mean that you will get an early hop on this week's task, and yes you can do them both today, although they must be claimed for SEPARATE WEEKS.

Now on to the TASK AT HAND ( pun intended)

The them task this week is a bit of a combo of some writing and digging up some graphics... have I peaked your interest yet? Now is the time SBLers to shake off your mundane day to day blues.. and how do we do that you ask???

WE ADD NEW EMOJIS TO OUT DISCORD!!!!! (can you tell I am excited)

1) I am not the most Discord inclined but every league need a good base of their sport related emoji's. Just something for the league to have access to that can be used in any general game post or whatnot. My suggestion is this one...



It has many uses like showing eagerness to get into a game or can signify a great play or a great at bat from a player. It is fairly generalizes so has many uses in my mind.

2) And then for use to egg on a team that was eliminated from post season contention of from a series we need a golfer emoji like the one I have here...



3) For a loss or a bad play, or just general use when appropriate we can have one like the following...

You can use the emojis if you want, I have no preference to them. I just thought they were funny and fit the theme of the league. I tried to find more baseball ones than anything else. There are only so many things you can use though while still fitting the theme of baseball. The one that I find the most amusing is the bloody baseball bat. If that one is chosen than I have a feeling its going to be used a lot for shit talking, Which I am a fan of and support the use of that emoji for. Ramblings over.

2a.) 100 Words on which Emojis to include

I think some of my emojis posted above shows a variety of emotions that can be used in multiple situations. They're also Discord friendly so that's a bonus. As for the other emojis posted above, I would have to say I like the pride emojis as well as some of the baseball-relevant emojis posted by CaptainHook. We should make sure we include some emojis that accurately reflect our baseball sim league. And some funny ones too, like the ones I posted. Oh and we totally have to include the Pingu emoji posted by Pingu because he is truly unique and one of a kind character, so we have to pay homage to him. I look forward to seeing some more emojis posted by others in this thread.

I think my emotes should be added because they represent different emotions someone might have. Mr Hook also have some splendid emote suggestions, more revolving around the theme of the server, Baseball. People who have suggested these emotes are very good at pointing out why theirs should be picked. Rather than using their words here i'm going to have to ask you to go take a peek at their posts and read the marvelous explanations everyone gave. I think my emotes are splendid, but if the league management seems then unfitting, I won't be against. If you need some thing more cute and girly I would look at what 2ndbasebabe suggested as her suggestions seem to fit the general range of being cute and funny, where as mine are more emotions and you can fool around with the oppositions mind when using them. For example you could input the emote, with dark jacket and dark sunglasses and say "EZ" after winning a big game against your biggest rival, the Pittsburgh Pioneers. Which would make them angry and fuel the ongoing rivarly

1. Happy Ping Turtle

Everybody loves to use the angry ping alert emojis when the staff/simmers send out a mass ping, so turn the tables on them with a happy turtle. Instead of being irate, this turtle looks absolutely pleased to have gotten a ping! Members who might be trying to look mad over the ping will now look happy and appreciative for your trouble!


2. Dead, AKA Dead Krillin (The Gorlab)

Popularized by Gorlab in the VHL, this emoji is incredibly versatile. It can be used as a laugh react, disbelief, disappointment, exhaustion... you name it, this emoji probably works. It's too useful to not have this.


3. Gustav3, AKA Court of the Crimson King Album edit

As anyone who belongs to the Discord of the HC Davos Dynamo of the VHL knows, this emoji is a favorite of Gustav and is used frequently. The image, labeled, "Gustav3," is a meme edit of the cover of the classic album, "Court of the Crimson King," by King Crimson. The look of disapproval is absolutely perfect for a variety of situations, and is again a logical choice.


4. The Prague Phantoms Logo

I know what you're thinking: this is a VHL team logo! Why would this be a Discord emoji for a separate league?! Simple, as the VHL still has not made a Discord emoji for the Phantoms and it would be hilarious if another league entirely made it an emoji before the league the team is in did. What can I say, I'm an agent of chaos.

I think that these emotes are solid because they already have clear circumstances where some of our users will know how to use them. They're decently versatile and can be applied to quite a few events that happen frequently in our sim. I think I'm the biggest supporter of D: because that one can basically be posted for anything. Big Home run? D:

Spartan saying he's re-rolling Marko? D:

KEKW is probably my favorite emote because that dude's laugh is incredible (for the uninformed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDiB4rtp1qw) and MonkaS is so that Nyko has something he can use. Clap is a simple emote but it's one that users can use to support one another and it can be used in conjunction with other emotes/team emotes. PressF is a good fit for when you're calling the game over or after your player just let the team down. I also like the emotes Snu proposed

I mean look, we need a good variety of baseball emojis. Funny A-Rod ones, funny Encarnacion ones and one of a guy getting hit in the face? Well, that's just golden, in my opinion. I feel like these emojis I have posted as well as a lot of the ones others have would cover a lot of different reactions we would need in game threads, or elsewhere. Just take a look at those 2 Encarnacion ones I put here, and even the A-Rod ones. They would be able to be perfect reactions for teams in the game threads. Win a game? Post one of those funny smiles. Lose one? Put one of the funny faces

There are numerous wonderful ideas for emojis for the discord that have already been submittied. However, I can't talk about all of them. So I will limit myself to only talking about a few. For one, I love acydburn's and CaptainHook's ideas cause they revolve around baseball itself. Additionally, I love Cornholio's Bob Ross idea because who wouldn't want a Bob Ross emoji. In addition, I love JetsQB101's idea for a "press F" emoji. I also love Snussu's ideas due to the variety of situations that they could be used in. Last but not least, I love Doomsday's happy ping turtle idea because it would hopefully give everyone some happiness when they see a ping.

This is probably going to be whoever weights the most pounds but if that's too offensive than it'll be :sadfan: because luckily for me baseball fans are also very obese.



This is when you're the sheriff and somebody says sum susp stuff in chat and you gotta be like, bruh what u just say. The sheriff hat is a nice touch.



This is when somebody says some super super suspicious shit and may or may not be the dumbest thing you ever heard, but rather than saying that you can just represent yourself with this amazing emote!



This is a cute panda on fire, probably because the sim is on fire and panda is upset!



This is when you have to think about something someone says and you kinda just want to tell them to fuck off. Major troll material here folks!

2A. I think there are an incredible amount of great options for emojis to add. Everyone has done such a good job of finding things that will work. My favorite was by far pengu and his pokemon emojis for each team. I love all of the emojis that are cute creatures and i think they will be awesome. I am not a fan of the generic and live action baseball ones, as i think the league should adopt something with more flavor. You might be thinking “this guy seems pretty opinionated on what the emojis should look like, why didn’t he post anything” and to that i say, “fuck you, im lazy.” The final thing i have to say on this topic is something that is very important to me. I believe that blade should shun her lazy ways and not leach off the hard working members of the sbl. Condesencion out of the way, i seriously think that any time blade does emojis on her own they turn out extremely cute and awesome.

2A. Gonna have to go with Pingu’s suggestions on this one. I have just about zero knowledge when it comes to Pokémon but I think that it would be the coolest out of all of the ones I’ve seen. They all make a ton of sense when they’re paired with the teams that they would represent and they look nice. Think it’d be something cool to add to the discord. Not that the others wouldn’t be cool but ya know. Pickup, Spritzee, Elgyem (no bias) and Fletcher are my favorites to look at. Aside from the art, I think that it’s something that a lot of people would be able to relate to as well. I mean, they’re are plenty other suggestions that people would relate to so it’s just a plus. Pingu did a pretty good job with this one and got creative, as usual. This would have to be my front runner.
