The Ordinary Guy. An MVP Review Empty The Ordinary Guy. An MVP Review

The SBLm career of Kurtis McKenzie will be long remembered... or perhaps maybe not. In the draft , the pure hitting outfielder fell all the way to pick 22 and the Sherbrooke Mohawks. From the beginning, it was apparent that Sherbrooke would live and die via the offense.  McKenzie, Goliath, Mekajiki would be needed to carry the offense. McKenzie obliged.  His bat arrived early and stuck around.  He had hot and cold stretches as is usual, but throughout the season, he began to hear his name in MVP discussion. He was never the favorite; Rocky Mitchell and his historic home run season was. However, McKenzie kept up his stellar OPS and average. He stayed within striking distance of the home run race. Down the final stretch of the season, McKenzie and Sherbrooke got hot. Kurtis bashed his way to within a bomb or 2 of the HR lead. He finished top 3 in nearly every major batting category.  His defense was passable. In the end, he walked away with the MVP. Unfortunately, his playoff performance left much to be desired.  Sherbrooke surprised everyone by making the finals. But McKenzie did little to help. Let's see what his future holds.
