Monarchs up and flew away.... Empty Monarchs up and flew away....

Baseball is America’s Pastime. It’s a game of strategy, hunches and just plain luck. It’s unpredictability is why we love it. Sometimes that unpredictability is when a team up and moves from its home. In this case, the Victoria Monarchs fluttered away from Canada down a few miles and changed their identity at the border.

Football may be the sport people think of first when it comes to Texas, but make no mistake, baseball is just as ingrained into Texans as football. From High School to the AA Texas League all the way up to “Forward Thinking” Houston Astros, baseball is as much Texas as 10 gallon hats, rodeos and pumpjacks.

It can even be said that baseball is in a way the lifeblood of Texas. Giving its citizens something to hang onto during the good and bad times. Oil is just as much the lifeblood of Texas, providing many jobs as well as supporting many small and large towns throughout the state.

When you think of someone who works in the oilpatch, you should think of a tough, hard working SOB that isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty or do whatever it takes to get the job done. Perfect attributes for both someone in the industry and even for a baseball player.

Picture Dallas. Bright lights and baseball. This is the new setting. It’s sometimes called the big D and with all the other sports in the city, baseball would fit right in and thrive. Weve incorporated that as part of our main logo. A big D to represent both our city and nickname.

A Derrick is one of the most recognizable pieces of oilfield equipment and are as common in Texas as baseball diamonds. Dominating the landscape as it towers above everything in its vicinity. Perfect for our goal of dominating and towering above all our competition.

Spoiler:

And finally for our name. A driller has proved his mettle and worked his way up the food chain and is one of the most respected workers and the position every roughneck strives to be when they start out. We want every player coming into the SBL to strive to be one of the elite and to be part of what we’re are building here in Dallas.

Spoiler:

We are the Dallas Drillers Baseball Club. Here. We. Go!
